About me
Cheribomb
Inside the mind of an EQ2 Decorator and my journey to being a full time designer.
I didn't know I was supposed to be an EQ2 decorator! I found my way to Norrath in early 2009 as Dawnstrike the High Elf Warden on the Nagafen Server. As I made my way to Raven's Roost in New Halas, I bought my first homestead for 7 silver a week, that weekly rent maintenance was somewhat of a stretch in the early days :-). But, I was instantly intrigued by the fact that I could have a virtual home in game and started secretly questing for home items and eventually found the Norrathian Homeshow forums and was inspired by the creations from the now in game decorator legends such as Nefaria Darksoul.
In the meantime, through 2010-2011 I worked on Dawnstrike for over a year in the adventure only/PVP environment and even tried my hand at a brief stint of raiding in an effort to be a "true gamer" in EQ2 to make my fiancée happy. But honestly, I hated constantly being behind on gear and skills to compete on Nagafen as I didn't really want to put in the effort to be a bad ass healer/PVP'er.
Truth be told; I was really drawn to creating and improving my in game home and bringing my inner interior decorator to life. I also realized that the Homeshow Forum submissions brought out a competitive streak in me and was a huge inspiration for me to create new designs and new ideas to show off to fellow decorating enthusiasts.
In early 2011 I created a Carpenter on Nagafen. Instead of leveling her adventure level up on a double xp weekend I spent the entire weekend leveling her tradeskill up to 90. I felt a little guilty and lonely as a decorator and not into adventuring and PVP at all anymore. I couldn't even join the world wide Antonia Bayle Homeshow Channel due to conflict with PVP rules on Nagafen. After receiving some positive feedback on the Homeshow Forums with my home submissions, and a few trophy's for my designs, I started the mental process of moving from adventuring/PVP to decorating full time. I eventually just lost interest in even leveling except in the cases to gain items from live events and to obtain recipes.
Despite my multiple trophy wins on Nagafen and with the limited housing enthusiasts on that server at the time, I decided in January of 2012 to leave Nagafen behind and create a new life and a new home and created another Master Carpenter/Main on Antonia Bayle named Cheribomb. In September of 2015 I also created a new carpenter on the time locked expansion server Stormhold and poor old Nagafen was merged in November 2015 into the new Skyfire server.
I mainly decorate for myself but I am also available for hire for select commission jobs. If you are interested in hiring me for a commission on Stormhold, Antonia Bayle or Skyfire please click here.
Sincerely ~ Cheribomb
